Praia Formosa is the largest public beach in Funchal. Located at the western end of the city, it consists of four interconnected pebble and volcanic black sand beaches. It's a favorite spot for locals to swim, sunbathe, and enjoy spectacular views of the Cabo Girão cliff.

How to Get to Praia Formosa by Bus

Praia Formosa is easily reachable using Horários do Funchal urban buses. Several routes terminate or pass close to the beach levels.

The primary hotel route. Get off at the last stops near the Forum Madeira shopping center and walk 5-10 minutes down to the beach.
